The camera detector appears rather simple, but it does spot camera lenses. The RF detector does indeed pick up cell phones and other wi-fi devices. If an item sends an intermittent signal, that will only be seen when the signal is transmitted - this can make for a slower sweep (would have been nice to add a "hold signal" button or something like that).
