It’s essentially a substitute for watertight casings. Perfect for any number of luncheon meat recipes. Perfect sandwich sized slices way less money than the deli counter.It held a kilo perfectly and the spring gives plenty of pressure to pack tightly. The thermometer is reasonably accurate for this purpose.This is a great addition to my sausage making hobby. Note though, there are no instructions or recipes. It assumes you know what to do with a ham press. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Works well, just google directions *by M***A on March 4, 2025* Okay, I wanted to try my hand at making cold cuts at home to control things like salt and make sure they’re safe. One of my favorites is turkey breast and since I can’t seem to find a whole turkey breast to roast and carve outside of the winter holiday season, I wanted to try this with ground turkey breast. Now, some tips: purée the meat! Think high power blender type of purée power. It just looks like boiled meatloaf consistency otherwise which didn’t look very appetizing. Another thing I did afterwards was sear the outside, but that was more for looks and added flavor.Now, on to the actual product! It works exactly as designed and honestly was simple to use, pack seal and boil. There are no instructions, so you will need to Google some recipes (or make it up as you go like I did.) I did lightly grease the inside before packing because it’s stainless steel throughout and I didn’t want to take my chances with sticking. Overall, good quality and I only removed the one star because there were no directions included. ### ⭐⭐⭐ No instructions *by H***G on December 17, 2024* I was intrigued by this product, and interested in making my own lunch meats. The canister itself is nice, made from stainless steel and quite sturdy. It is not very large, the diameter is the size of a small bologna or large salami. It has some sort of spring, and comes with a thermometer which I'm assuming fits in a hole in the lid. There are no instructions. I have never done this before, so some guidance is necessary. The description has some clues, but not specifics. Instructions and possibly a couple of basic recipes would have meant a 4-5 star review.
