They were perfect for this purpose because they are so lightweight, easy to fill, have a secure-fitting lid, and they are slim enough to fit into a narrow backpack side pocket and even the seat pocket on the plane.I like the ability to use a straw or not (although the straw needs to be quite long because the cups are pretty tall).The only negative for me is the need to hand wash. I'm someone who wants to use my dishwasher for *everything* if at all possible, and I know these cups would never withstand the heat.
