Your hair needs to be entirely virgin to get a perm and that doesn't take a year if your hair is more than 12 inches and you're in your early 20s you probably shouldn't try to perm your hair til your 30s because your hair can't have any color chemicals in it. Hair color doesn't wash out over time like it appears too it's there forever until you cut your hair or it grows out. **Q: Can this be used on dyed hair?** A: This can be used on dyed hair. It contains hydrogen peroxide so use lightens the hair permanently. Do not use on a sensitive, irritated or damaged scalp. Not intended for use on medium brown or darker shades of hair. Keep away from children. **Q: What does the word "controlled" mean in relation to this product?** A: 1) because of the spray top you can apply it only where you want highlights. 2) depending on how much of the product you apply and how much heat you apply I assume you can control the amount of lightening (and damage) **Q: how long after applying do you shower?** A: This product is used after showering. It is applied to towel dried hair. The greater the heat on blow drier or iron the greater the lightening effect.
