Review: Worked for a Standard Door Lock - The key blank is sturdy and reasonably good quality in terms of appearance. It's a different type of blank than the kind they have in key-replicating machines or at my local hardware store, but I looked into the codes and this one does work for standard door locks -- I confirmed by getting it cut. Overall, a good item for someone who would like to insert a tiny sword to lock or unlock a door.
Review: Cool, but I had to call half a dozen places to get it cut - Very cool key, but it can't be cut by everyone. Most locksmiths won't do it.

**Q: What's the difference between schlange and kwikset? i can't find anything on google that helps**
A: When buying house keys, especially designer house keys, the main thing you need to keep in mind is the type of key that you want to duplicate. There are many different types of house keys, don’t make the mistake of buying the wrong type. The most common types are KW1 (Kwikset), SC1 (Schlage) and WR5(Weiser).

Key blanks can be correctly identified in one of 3 ways:

First, a key blank may be identified by the shape of the head of the key. The shape of the head is an invaluable aid in identifying a key blank, but it is not a guarantee of a match. See Figure: Key Type.
Second, a key blank may be identified by the alpha-numeric code found on the key head. See Figure: Key Type.
Third, all else fails, ask a local locksmith.

KW1 = 66
KW10 = 97
KW1 = KW = KW10
SC1 = 68

**Q: Will the schlage sc1 work if my current key is a schlage sc4 or am i out of luck?**
A: Locksmith here.  SC1 is a 5 pin key, SC4 is a 6 pin.  Unfortunately, an SC1 key blank is too short to operate a lock keyed to SC4.

**Q: What's the difference between schlange and kwikset? i can't find anything on google that helps**
A: Milling on the key (grooves) that match up with the warding on the lock cylinder.  Kwikset and Schlage keys will not fit into each other's locks.  There is also a difference in the depths and spacings on the cuts in the key between the two brands.

**Q: Lowe’s can’t cut it, so where can I get mine made at??**
A: Go to a locksmith shop - I don't think it requires a special machine, we cut mine on a regular key duplicator but a locksmith shop will be able to cut it for you regardless.
