I kind of balance the one handle on the ground to load the fixings. **Q: what is this made of, it used to be iron.. I've heard this is lightweight aluminum?** A: This product was never made of iron. I used to have one. My son now owns that one. The 1949 product appears to be made of some sort of pewter. The design currently pictured appears to be of the same material. You just cant produce a casting with detailed lettering using stainless steel. If this were stainless, they would have to charge about $80 for it. **Q: Rome's pie iron is basically 2 pieces that form one piece. Is this one piece or also 2 ? Is the handle as long as the Rome's pie iron? ( too long)** A: This one is 2 pieces and is made for use on a household stove, the handles are just right for the purpose.
