In the photos I posted you can see that they turn a rich dark grey after a single application of massage oil. They are also really smooth. People who don't use oil are not following instructions on how to give the massage properly. The case is jet-black in color and looks great on my table. And the heat shield lives up to its promise - the outside doesn't heat through. I like that all the stones fit inside, so when I am not using them, they are out of the way and always ready to go. I have also been able to transport the unit to clients homes for mobile massages without fuss. Its also very easy to clean - I just unplug it and run a towel over the heating plates. There's a guide to giving hot stone massages that is included which is actually quite useful. I was thinking of getting a book, but this has been more than good enough to get me started. The only thing I would add however is a second set of stones. The stones are very porous and it seems to take a lot of oil for a short time massaging a small area.
