The answer comes from a little Googling, which reveals that Liquid Fence was a small company in Pennsylvania that got purchased in 2014 by a large conglomerate (United Industries Corp., a subsidiary of Spectrum Brands Holdings, which owns and manufactures other brands you'd recognize like Spectracide, Hot Shot, Black Flag, Cutter and Repel). They apparently closed the plant in Pennsylvania and moved manufacturing to a United Industries plant in Missouri -- and in the process jacked up the effective price to consumers by 60%.
