The unit I have is the LP0621, which doesn't have to be drained. The manual states, "Condensation can build up inside the unit when the "Cool and Dry" modes are used. The fan can be set to run for a short period after the unit is turned off to help keep the inside of the appliance dry. This option is off by default." Note: When we serviced the conditioner for winter storage, just in case there was liquid in it, we opened the drain button at the bottom of the unit, no water had accumulated. Mine won't go in far enough to stay!** A: It can be tricky. I twisted the hose into the unit, like screwing a lid on a jar, BEFORE inserting the holder into the window. I held the hose between my knees and screwed on the window plate-insert on to the hose. Instead of doing it the other way around. Once the hose was secure to the plate, I installed the plate into the window frame. We did have an issue later, but it was because the heat outside made the insulation tape on the edges loosen and the hose and plate fell out of the window. But they didn't separate when they fell out. Once I realized I needed a stronger system to hold the plate in the window it was an easy fix. Just be sure that hose is screwed in properly. I had to be patient, and it took a few tries, but it did work out. Hope this info helps. **Q: Does it take water?** A: It does not require you to put water in it. It is an actual Air Conditioner and not a "Swamp Cooler".
