If you put your fingers on both sides of the point and pull or, it should release the lock. **Q: Wet or dry hair?** A: Dry. I think it would be a nightmare for wet hair. Well maybe slightly damp hair would be OK. Or if your hair is on the thinner side. **Q: Is it just a brush or is it heated & is it good for thick hair** A: No, not a heated brush; whether good for thick hair I'm not sure. I have thick course hair at it's natural state and fine when straighten and the bristles are dense, tightly squeezed together and thick. I didn't use it on my hair because I was scared it would pull out my hair. It's similar to the brushes you buy at the store that people use to straighten and curl their hair at the same time (barrel brushes). This brush however, has a double set of bristles on top and bottom which helps you straighten your hair either by flat iron or blow drying.
