I got one and made a hole that was too small. I used a 1/2" (#12) bit and even had to bore that out a little to get them in. The 1/2" bit did take out a little of the opening, so one nut is nearly in the hole, but I could change that. The point is that it won't fit into a 12mm hole, so if you already have a 1/2" bit, that is what you need. I've used it on 4 of them. Other folks have said that's too big, but that is not my experience, but not saying it won't work for you. The eye doesn't fit flush with the cement and a good amount (3/4" or so) of the threads are visible. I saw no way to tighten it and keep it in the hole at the same time. Tightening it raises it out of the hole and/or lowers the nut. I'm using it on a concrete patio to tie down the roof with a cable (Florida hurricanes). This is my first time, so I may not have done it correctly.
