Also - the hitches were not deep enough to keep the toys together. they are more like cake decorations. **Q: Do the tires come off?** A: Unfortunately, regrettably, some of the tires come off the rims, other tires come off the axles. I gave this to my 4 year old grandson and learned he was not ready for this type of toy. He never took tires off till he got this. It's a shame because all the pieces are made to scale and is a wonderful collection to any train platform or farm display. **Q: What peaces are made of metal?** A: Various pieces are metal, some plastic. Not all plastic like some sets.
