Although I was worried about the color (it said black in the ad) it is more of a dark blue/gray, which works much better for me. It is non-slip and soft. For the money, I think it will work well in this space. It is not an expensive, hand-knotted wool rug, and it does not pretend to be. It is not deep pile, but it is just thick enough to be comfortable. The pattern is small enough for small narrow hallways, too.
