The second pair did not have this extra pad so I don't know what means, but I really didn't need it anyway. Walking is comfortable as well. The shoes arrived in a well constructed strong storage box and in individual protective bags for each shoe; a nice touch normally seen in higher end products. They are beautiful looking and the size seems true . I got a size 7. Don't like that the buckles are to small and strap is thin . Makes it difficult to buckle especially with nails . I have only walk around the house with them.
