You can take the hook off your old springs, as I did, and it’s just fine. **Q: What's the difference between P728 and P728C?** A: The P728 does not include a "w" or "c" hook while the P728C used to come with a w-hook attached. We are not shipping w-hooks on any of our springs anymore. **Q: return policy** A: The spring already has a safety cable inside it. **Q: My garage uses 4. Can use 2 of these and 2 of the p528...or do all 4 need to be the same? Want to keep door up during Rain.** A: Yes you can use a mix of P728 and P528 to achieve a higher load capacity on the springs. If you have an existing, balanced door with all P728 springs, then you will want to stick with all P728 springs. You won’t find them at Home Depot. And don’t ask them because the staff does not know anything about one piece doors as they are older and Home Depot only sells the overhead track designs now. Use YOU TUBE and search for the explanation on where to find the make and model number, and installation instructions. Note: This is dangerous if you don’t know what you are doing. P728 was a perfect replacement and you MUST replacement them in PAIRS!!
