## Description

Mityvac is a brand of automotive diagnostic and service repair tools since 1971. Beginning with the design and patent of a single hand-held vacuum pump intended for medical applications, its uses broadened to include automotive diagnostics and service as well as industrial and consumer applications. Model MV6840 is a professional hydraulic brake and clutch bleeding system that includes a fluid dispenser with manual pump (MV6400) and a kit containing seven master cylinder adapters (MVA6850). It forces new brake fluid down through the master cylinder, while air and old fluid are expelled through the bleed screw(s). A pressure gauge on the dispenser allows control of the system pressure, and the pressurized reservoir allows the operator hands-free movement to the bleed screws. Mityvac offers the products and systems you need for any brake and clutch bleeding application, air induction cleaning and compression testing, cooling system evacuation or refill application, for fluid handling and diagnostic applications.

Review: Quality product - Works great
Review: Quality material and easy to use. - I had a 2019 silverado with a failed power booster/master cyl. SI stated pressure bleed was required. I absolutely hated having to drop close to 3 bucks on this thing, but after using it I was thanking god I had it. Only used once so we will see how it holds up in time. It has a bunch of attachments, a pressure gauge on the pump lid, and a pressure release valve. Some newer models you absolutely have to pressure bleed or you will be sitting around for 10 years wondering why it still has the same code. On top of being used to bleed the brakes quicker than you would be able to with a helper, along with not needing a helper, I also used it to pressure check a leak I had created by not threading in a brake line tight enough. After fixing the leak, doing the manual and ABS bleed. Code was a cleared and pedal was nice and responsive as hell. Pressure bleeding is by the far the best way to bleed brakes. Very happy with purchase. One last thing, people complained about it leaking from the lid. This did not occur on my vehicle but may happen further down the line. Will keep posted.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Does it bleed air from the ABS module as well**
A: There are two types of ABS modules. An OPEN and CLOSED type system. An OPEN system will allow you to bleed the brake system and ABS module as normal since it's an OPEN sytem and the fluid flushes right through. A CLOSED system on the other hand requires a separate bleeding procedure in order to open up the internal solenoid valves to allow the brake fluid to flush through. This process is more involved and requires additional tooling or procedures to accomplish. See vehicle manufacturers service manual for instructions. Ok so now you want to know if you have an OPEN or CLOSED ABS module. Best way to find out is go to your vehicles manufacturer service manual and see what the final steps are after replacing a brake caliper, master cylinder, ABS module or any brake system component that you need to open up the system. At the end of any procedure I mentioned it will tell you to bleed the brake system. If no mention of a special procedure to bleed the ABS module separately then it's safe to say you have an OPEN system. Most newer vehicles today have an open system for ease of bleeding and flushing. I believe early ABS systems were a CLOSED system but I'm sure there are some late model vehicles that still have a CLOSED system. Ok, that's the short version. Hope this helps.

**Q: What is the typical pressure used to pressurize the master cylinder? 10psi? 20psi?**
A: We use 10psi . We have also used 20 but I personally found no difference. The unit does produce alot bubbles in the pressure line line so we use 10 psi to minimize the bubbles.

**Q: how do you use it**
A: you need an air compressor....if memory serves the compressor needs to be 5SCFM minimum but check the Mityvac website. You attached the mityvac to each bleed nipple in turn and just open the nipple enough to start fluid being extracted into the Mityvac. It worked well for me, I'd tried other methods of purging the lines but this worked best.

**Q: does anyone know how to use the mva801 adapter? its just a cap with no fittings**
A: It is used on dual cap master cylinders. You use that to cap off the other side of the mastercylinder. Factory mastercylidee caps do not hold, not are they meant to, pressure. Therefore if you just left the factory cap on the brake fluid would fill the reservoir and start leaking out

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good tool

Works good but I've had a couple of vehicles that it didn't work on so now I have to order a universal adapter to see if that works. I would recommend this because work as it should
