Both cane and cord we're two pieces. **Q: We completed three chairs and there is not enough caning for the fourth chair. it is short. can i get a piece of caning only and not the kit?** A: I'm not sure if you can buy the caning separately. **Q: Does this fit square seats?** A: You can cut the caning to fit the chair you are repairing but I was told this item is no longer available. I had to buy another product for my fourth chair which is close but not identical. **Q: Can you tint this cane? If so, what product is recommended?** A: It appears ready to stain. Though you may want to go with a non kit to be sure. The instructions say it is ready to take shelac.
