U have to add coffee powder in the top compartment and then pour hot water through it. The coffee will drip down to the lower container. This is a drip filter kind of coffee maker... not to be used on the stove top. **Q: The filter stick was separated from the filter when delivered. How are we suppose to use it?** A: It's supposed to be. You add the coffee powder in the top half then press it down with the filter stick. Add hot water and wait for the decoction to drip down to the bottom tumbler. **Q: Can you explain the proper procedure?** A: One needs to put the ‘filter coffee powder’ in upper compartment. Put the steel utensil (net kind of thing) over the coffee powder and press it delicately to level it and leave the steel net in the upper compartment. Pour warm water and put the lid. The coffee will drip slowly from the top to bottom compartment. Use the steel net ocassionally to pump the coffee to the lower compartment as at times the powder remains in the top compartment.
