We estimate that if you use your Lifestraw every day, it would be around 3 months. However, if you don't use it everyday, taste might be an indicator -- if you notice chlorine taste in your water, it may be time to replace the capsules. **Q: Can you just clean these filters or do they really need to be replaced? Price seems steep for only being able to filter around 26 gallons per filter.** A: they should be replaced because they may accumulate bacteria.
