## Description

Range is from 0-35 Pounds Door Pressure Gauge instrument design specifically to measure force. OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS: Set the top (small) o-ring located on the plunger rod on zero, down against the instrument's flange; or set the o-ring on the desired force. Holding the instrument firmly, press slowly against the door at a point approximately handle-high, and 30 inches away from the door's hinges. Read the amount of force required to open the door on the plunger scale closest to the bottom of the small o-ring. MEET ADA REQUIREMENTS The Americans with Disabilities Act requires that both interior and exterior doors of a building be handicapped accessible. Door Opening Force (4.1311 ADAAG). Exterior hinged doors: (Reserved) Interior hinged doors: 5 lbs (22.2N) Sliding or folding doors: 5 lbs (22.2N) Automatic/Power Assisted Doors: (4.13.12) Such doors shall not open to back check faster than 3 seconds and shall require no more than 15 lbs (66.6N) to stop door movement. If a power assisted door is used, its door-opening force shall comply with 4.13.11 and its closing shall conform to the requirements in ANSI A156.19-1984.

Review: It does the job but is a tad pricey - For what it is I don't believe it to be worth the money, however because of supply and demand I would charge what I paid for it - I needed one for work to test some doors and I was limited to where to buy one and of course desertcart had one. It does what it's meant todo, shame it doesn't have a hook for handles. Not the end of the world. It's small then I thought but thats better as I can just put it in my pocket.

**Q: Does this tester come with a calibration information? or certificate ?**
A: For $29 you are not going to get much in the way of precision engineering but presuming you are using it to verify door opening force for ADA purposes, it is very easy to check.  Support it in a vertical position on a firm surface then simply place an item you know is five pounds, such as a dumbell, on top of it.  Used the five pound example since that is the threshold for ADA doors.  You can do the same thing with objects of other weights to get a range of test points.

**Q: Does this also shut the door**
A: No this will not shut the door.  This tool is used to test the pound of pressure to push the door open or pull the door open to comply with the ADA act  that a person with limited ability to open a door.

**Q: Are the marks on the gauge just a sticker or are they painted on?**
A: They are silk-screen printed / painted on. My minor issue is the rubber o-ring to mark the door pressure. That o-ring will crack and break off over time and would need to get a replacement o-ring at the hardware store. We use this to check for door ADA compliance.
