The flat, straight sides scrape out every scrap of cat food from sides and bottom, and the edge gets under the rim of the cans and they are QUIET. The 3.5 inch long ones are just long enough for scooping comfort. Fabulous! I feed my cat really moist cat food with gravy and these little mini spoons GET IT ALL! Then, into the recycling bin! Yay! Curved spoons and knives just don't get it done without lots of fiddling and noisy scraping, and while small spatulas do a great job the can rim cuts off little bits of the soft spatula that I really don't want my cat consuming. Also works for ice cream and tastings. No rough edges and no splinters, for me or my cat. Also it gets EVERY BIT of tuna out of the cans for the humans to eat tuna salad!
