This Oval Rail Planter features an oval shaped planter that can sit perfectly on any deck or balcony railing. I was able to fit multiple configurations of pots inside the planters (see pics). You could also put the soil and plant directly inside the planter but I wanted the flexibility to move plants around easily later. The one tricky thing is creating the drain holes. The plastic is fairly thick so I used a threaded screw to initiate a hole, starting with a smaller screw at first, then switching to another threaded screw with a larger shaft to create a bigger hole. I could have also used a drill but since the little one was helping me, I decided to use manual labor over power tools (less risky ;)) There are markers to help guide where to make the drain holes.
