Even though the device is recognized as "USB blaster" by windows, Quartus programmer is not recognizing the device. I've tried version 10.1, 16.4 and 25.1, none are correctly recognizing the device. The seller is lying about the product and its capability. But for the intrepid there is a way to reprogram the hardware firmware to have it properly working. you'll need to collect the new firmware through github (thanks to Doug3) and the chip vendor programming tool. Search the web for "CH55x-USB_Blaster" for the binary and "WCHISPTool" for the programming software. Once you have collected all the elements put the device in programming mode (Tie D+ to VCC through a 10k resistor) and upload the firmware. I've done the mod and verified the device was properly recognized by Quartus (v25.1) and was able to configure a Cyclone IV FPGA and even program the associated EEPROM. Bought two just in case. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Works with Linux but must use openocd *by S***Y on September 24, 2020* It would seem that none of these clone blasters work with Quartus 20.X programmer. Tried many different ways and although it would recognize device ID it failed to configure/program. Others suggested trying openocd under Linux so I did, it was available as a prebuilt package 0.10.0. Had to create a simple config with just one line named maxiipgm.cfg: jtag newtap auto0 tap -irlen 10 -expected-id 0x020a20dd Then invoked with: openocd -f /usr/share/openocd/scripts/interface/altera-usb-blaster.cfg -f maxiipgm.cfg -c init -c "svf $1" -c shutdown Replace $1 with name of your svf file. You can convert to the needed svf file in the Quartus Programmer. This is for the Max II CPLD family which is popular for many small projects. You may have to change the ID above for something other than an EPM570. May work with Cyclone FPGA's but only to configure not to program an external Flash.
