I purchased this Xduoo X3II because I was attracted to its techy looks and so I reviewed its attributes to my requirements since Bluetooth entered into the spectrum a year ago with my purchase of the Shanling M1. I have since purchased many different Bluetooth capable players and learned all I will ever need to know about the topic. It isn't abundantly clear to consumers if this player is aptX capable. It is! It has the same designation (Hi-Quality) in the Bluetooth menu as the Shanling M1. I did not spend a lot of time with the X3II. I charged it, familiarized myself with the operating system, loaded a 256gb card with 10,000+ FLAC files, adjusted all of the controls and Bluetoothed it to many of my systems. The X3II sounds good. It sounds far better than the Fiio M6, my worst sounding player and probably as good as many of my players, if I kept fine-tuning the equalizer and I firmly believe the AK DACs need to burn in. There was no burn-in time here. My Shanling M1 needed many months of continuous playing until it sounded like anything and I swear its sound is still improving. I put this player in my collection inventory along with untold many other makes and models. I switch some players out. I am constantly alternating one system between a Pioneer XDP 100R and an OPUS #3. It's like buying a new player without buying one. I have, constantly streaming right now into various high-powered systems two (2) Shanling M0s, a Shanling M1, a Shanling M5s and two (2) HiBy R3 players. I use them all daily. It's my hobby. I purchased this X3II player because it caught my eye. I like the way it looks, very much. It has to do with the materials and the placement of the buttons, even the buttons on the side. It's relatively inexpensive or I would not spend any more money on another player. This one just fit my addiction to these fascinating players. There is no case to be found, but if I can't get Shenzhen Audio to sell me one on desertcart, I'll likely purchase one from Penon Audio and drive my bank crazy. I placed a screen cover on the back and anchored it with 4 of the rubber feet the X3II comes with. I did one comparison. If I am going to use this player, it would have been where I am Bluetooth streaming my Shanling M1 to a pair of Avantree headphones. Honestly, the M1 sounds far superior, but as I said, it didn't used to. It needed to break in. The M1 matured like wine. I never noticed so much improvement in a hi-fi component for which I have no other reason to attribute the sound improvement to other than constantly playing the M1 for about six months. II found the operating system to be perfectly fine. It's a pretty good operating system. The only thing it won't do is get you to a designated track because there is no touch screen and you will have to make folders to speed things up. The screen is pretty good. Album art shows, and it is in color. The X3II is larger than I expected. It feels good in the hand. The size is perfect. It functions flawlessly. Now for the all important sound review. Remember, I have the onkyo dp x1a which most consider the elite of the elite, and the lotoo is just a smichen behind. I can honestly say that this xduoo is as close as you can get especially considering the price. It's got plenty of power, and very easy to operate. In terms of sound quality it's great, I love that it has buttons and not touch screen (prior to purchasing this player I bought and returned a cheap aftermarket touchscreen player that would often freeze or lose connection).
