That is acceptable and expected. The pants have built-in expanders making it easy to wear, but you will need clip-on suspenders to wear the pants properly. Typical white-tie dress pants have cording down the outside leg, these pants have a satin stripe like a black-tie tuxedo. This is a minor detail, however, and few outside of Buckingham Palace would even notice. The coat was excellent and, once it was tailored to fit, which was expected, it looked like a royal ensemble. He looked dashing in this tux with tails! The pants would need hemming and alterations. He did not wear the pants with these tails because he already had custom fitted tux pants. This is a fantastic buy for a formal piece. It's cheaper than renting a tux! We plan to use this for Halloween functions, Formal functions and anytime he feels like wearing something extra classy! He also purchased a top hat for a retro party function. Jacket falls where it needs too without alteration. Pants come not hemmed allowing for the proper length to be tailored.
