Review: Very strong according to my rudimentary tests. And at an economical price too. - I challenged these lag screws by screwing one through a knot in a very old, very dry, 2x4 of Doug Fir and attaching it to a piece of 11/16 inch thick plywood. The additional challenge is that I used my injured left hand (which currently has the grip strength of a child) to hold the driver, and then the drill, just one-handed because I used my right hand to hold the camera. If I could have used both hands, screwing these lag screws all the way in would be even easier. The lag screws managed to bite the wood even though I couldn't apply substantial downward force. As you can see, in the video my effort is comical. My hand is so weak I even dropped my drill. But once the lag screws got a bite of the wood, they drive almost effortlessly. The black zinc coating wears off easily from the threads, which means they will rust in wet wood. I over-drove the screws with the included 13mm driver just to see how much of the coating would wear off by over-driving the screw. You could use a socket and ratchet to set these screws to full-depth gently, which would probably leave most, or all of the black zinc coating fully intact. Even my drill had no problem driving in these lag screws, despite my comical one-handed high-speed wiggle-warble start at driving the second one into the 2x4. These lag screws claim to be heavy-duty. I challenged that claim by using my vice to push a screw into the hole it came out of without turning it at all to use the threads. My vise gave up after sinking the screw about an inch deep by brute force alone. The lag screw bent a wee bit. The threads stayed intact. Holding power? Plenty. It's good that they bend under extreme pressure, instead of breaking catastrophically, which, ironically, means they are strong, because by bending instead of shattering, they will hold firm by being able to bend. Just like nails bend instead of sheering into two pieces. I am going to use these lag screws to construct a set of ramps out of old pallets and OSB (plywood) for my goats to play on. They destroyed the last set of ramps by doing what goats do, playing King of the Hill by jumping up and down to head-butt each other over and over again and again. I am confident that these lag screws will out last the lumber and pallets I use to build a new set of play ramps. I found the identical size and feature set of lag screws at my local big box hardware store for approximately 1.5 times the cost. Given that these come with washers too, these appear to be substantially more economical.
Review: Good value for black lag bolts - If you’re not familiar with desertcart Vine, it’s a program where reviewers get products in return for honest opinions. Some reviews can sound a bit generic, but I try to keep mine practical and genuinely useful. Even though the items are free, Vine members do pay taxes on their value, so I only request things I truly intend to use. I mention this because it matters, there’s no incentive for me to oversell a product. If something is great, I’ll say so. If it’s not, I’ll be just as open about that. As a test, i drove one of these through a 2 by 4 into another 2 by 4 without pre-drilling a hole. Went right in without breaking. It comes with the driver and washers. They aren't epoxy finished but I don’t think that’s necessary in most applications. I held one of these against a belt sander to see how tough the finish was. While I was able to remove the finish, it took quite a bit more than what I expected to get it down to bare metal. The driver did remove a small amount of the finish around the edges from the impact driver. I think these lag bolts are suitable for most projects requiring a black finish and I wouldn't have any problem recommending them. At the current cost of around $1.30 apiece (for 25 count) shipped to your door. I think this is a good value.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Fair Price, Good Appearance, Single-Layer Protection.

I needed lag bolts for a gate project and wanted black to match the hardware. I chose the MossGrip Lag Bolts because they already came with the matching flat washers at a price that was competitive with just the bolts at the local hardware stores. The MossGrip Lag Bolts came in a cardboard product box that can serve as a storage box. The bolts, matching flat washers and a ¼” drive hex socket are each packed in a zip-locked plastic bag, keeping the set organized. Everything looks to be well-made, but there is no specific information on quality specifications. The MossGrip product description says they have a black zinc coating and that should provide rust and corrosion protection. By comparison, similar lag bolts at the local big-box store have a combination of zinc, epoxy and ceramic coatings which should make them even more corrosion resistant, particularly in pressure-treated lumber. The MossGrip bolts are described as high-strength, but there are no bolt head markings to indicate the grade. I expect they will be fine for typical indoor and outdoor projects. Though you could force one of these bolts into lumber without first drilling a pilot hole, a properly sized pilot hole will make insertion much easier and reduce the chance of splitting the wood. I found the MossGrip bolts easy to work with and the finish matched nicely with black painted hardware.
