I live in a part of Texas where we have harder water, and even with an Aquasana filter, sediment can build up inside the hot water boiler over time. I would recommend checking the inside of your hot-water boiler every few weeks to months to check if you have any white, filmy residue build-up around the perimeter or bottom of your Zojirushi hot-water boiler. If you do, use this pocket and fill up the hot water boiler with warm water, let the cleaning function work it’s magic by holding down the proper button on your model, and then voila! Insides cleaned! After using cleaner, I always pour out the mixture into the sink, then rinse the insides again a few times to ensure it is completely descaled. Sometimes, though, if there has been significant buildup after nor cleaning for a long time, you may still have to scrub the inside of your boiler to get all buildup out. This is not a knock on the product, just the fact that a ton of buildup needs more than a routine maintenance cleaning to get it completely cleaned out. Lastly, after cleaning and rinsing in the sink, be sure to fill up the container and drain out probably another full tank of water through the spout to SME sure all the chemicals have been flushed out properly.
