It is very meaty. I will caution that though the words call us to account, I don't think the author intended this book to come across as legalistic. I believe his passion might be misinterpreted. As Americans, there is so much we take for granted while being so blessed we are not skilled at how to make some of the harder more sacrificial decisions. Our comfort clearly gets in the way of being the best followers of Christ we can. My husband and I took the approach of not being overwhelmed by the many changes we could make and we asked God to help us be more intentional in making our lives lineup with His directions. Remember, it is God that does the work through us by His power so don't feel defeated, or pat yourself on the back because you are doing everything in the book. This book is about self examination-Taking a closer look at how you might seriously be missing the mark because you are following what every other person is doing inside your church or community. Don't be afraid to be and look different- after all Jesus did. I hope this encourages you to pursuit and finish the study. It turned our life upside down for the better and we have " what I call "clean" living now" not allowing little thoughtless decisions to creep in and destroy the intentions or the goal of following His plan for our lives. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Very challenging *by D***S on Reviewed in the United States on March 31, 2021* If you are serious about being a disciple of Jesus, this book will challenge you in a lot of ways. Platt frequently says things in the book that made me stop and think, sometimes for several days, while I digested and internalized what he was saying. He sticks closely to Scripture but forces the believer to accountability to what God has said in His Word. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ READ THIS BOOK *by H***E on Reviewed in the United States on January 1, 2014* This is a wonderful study! I can't sing it's praises enough. It has had a huge impact on our church. We did it first in my small group study and then with our adult sunday school class before church. David Platt speaks passionately and challenges you without demoralizing you. I did read the book, but I think this is best to do along with the DVD, workbook, and a group (at least for maximum impact), I have nothing bad to say about it. This is right on biblical truth.
