Review: Just when I thought I would have to surrender to digital streaming , Polk saved my music !. - I have a small house, a really tiny room but a very large collection of Music on CDs and LPs. With space constraints I was listening to music on the Bose Acoustic Wave II for almost 15 years. It served me well till it perished on a high musical note. For nearly two years , I have been listening to music on Bluetooth speakers but they never did give the pleasure my ears were seeking. It was a compromise. That did not stop me from buying music on CDs , because i lived in hope that someday I would be able to listen to music just the way I used to listen to it before on a nice warm sound system. I did not have a high end budget either and keeping the tiny space I have , I needed something just right that would fill my room with warm sounds. A friend of mine wanted to switch over to digital music streaming, he was absolutely done with music on CDs and wanted to move on with technology , well to each his own , and his loss I must add. He wanted to give away his Harmon Kardon Amplifier of 15 years (which works like a charm) and immediately bought it from him. Next thing I dug out was my worn out sony Dvd player which needed repair , but i got it fixed. Now the only thing remaining was to get the right speakers and pair it with this amplifier and dvd player. After several days of research and reading a lot on several other brands of speakers, Polk T15 caught my attention. I took a leap of faith and bought them. The speakers arrived , in an absolutely lovely packaging. Secured and not one dent on the box (thankfully). The speakers itself look gorgeous and I removed the outer covers of the speakers because I like them that way. The only little complaint I have was that they came without audio wires. So i ran to the local electronic store and bought about 30 feet of audio cable and found myself cutting the wire and setting up the speakers on the wall of my room. When the setup was complete, it was time to test this tailor made old system with a fresh new pair of speakers. The result, a big smile on my face. The efforts , the patience paid off and the T15 absolutely breathed new life to my collection of music. It's just right for my room , my tiny space. The bass is not enthralling if you're someone who is looking for a heavy bass sounding sound. Nope, not at all. It's well balanced and I prefer it that way. The acoustics , the drums , the vocals , the guitars ,the overall sound hits the sweet spot. So if you're looking for a similar setup like mine, something old school which sounds lush and warm, consider the T15's as a very affordable upgrade.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Speaker impedance and frequency response ?**
A: 8 Ohms each, 60 - 24,000 Hz response but without a decibel variation or a response curve that is meaningless.  They do say the -3db useful low end is 65 Hz.  Over all it is a good value for use in a small room like a small bedroom or computer office say about 10' x 10'.  I play mine with "loudness" on and have the bass turned up a bit to give a nice balanced sound on most material.  These would obviously benefit from being paired with a subwoofer, but they are still adequate even without for normal listening.  You'd have to spend at least double the money to get much better speakers. Note that oftentimes through the year, Amazon and Best Buy will have these on sale for about $49 for the pair, which is when I bought mine, so obviously THAT makes them an even better deal.  I've compared a lot of small bookshelf speakers and to my ears, you'd have to get some Boston Acoustics at $250 for the pair to offer anything much better than these, but you may wish to compare them to others by Klipsch and JBL.  But really, when I got them for $49 I was VERY happy with them and how they have grown on me after I broke them in for a few hours.   Do be aware that playing them overly loud can result in some "noise" or "rattle" from pushing the little 5.25" woofer too hard.  You just need to use some common sense and have realistic expectations for such small speakers in terms of volume.

**Q: Should I set this speaker to "Small" or to "Large" in my receiver? My Yamaha RX-V581 automatic calibration sets this to Large.**
A: So this depends on your receiver. I realize this is an old question, but could be helpful for others. Many receivers have the speaker size selection and many newer (last several years) receivers may also allow you to tweak your crossover settings for each set of speakers. Basically, what that means is that if your sub crossover is set at 150 hz, you want your other speakers to pick up the frequency where the sub left off. So you would want your other speakers to "crossover" at 150 hz. This means that those speakers will play frequencies from 150 hz and higher. If you set your sub for 80 hz and your other speakers at 150 hz, you'll miss all of the sounds between 80 and 150. All that to say, if you set your speakers to small, you'll want to look in your receiver manual to see what the low frequency cut-off is so you know what to set your sub crossover at. This way, you won't lose part of your sound.

**Q: Do you need a receiver to use these? or can i just hook up to my tv?**
A: I have seen TVs that have speaker outputs, but it's pretty rare. If your TV has those, they'd be labeled "External Speakers" or something like that. Otherwise you need a receiver or at least an amplifier.

**Q: Is this price for one speaker or the pair**
A: Try to confirm: As of today 12/03/2021, the price list is $99.00 and in the title, it says: "single" and in "What in the box" says: 1 tower speaker. So this price is for 1 single speaker and not a pair of speakers. Is this correct?

Product packing ... Bubble packed. No damange. looks brand new apr 2025 mentioned on box Looks.. very nice looking.. looks very premium Sound.. Bass .. Decent ..For proper bass you need additional subwoofer Mid.. very clear vocals Highs. Very shrap highs Sound in total .. sound is treble side shifted so clear surround sound when used with home theatre. I am using it as front speakers i also have polk m xt15 but that is back fire so on book shelf its not sounding good..so i bought this for testing it as front speakers.. Its 8 ohm speaker so best matches with my denon 1800x avr. Overall mids and highs very clear Bass could be better.. As surround its paisa vasool As main speakers.. you need subwoofer for full range sound After calibration its sounding very good My setup is t15 front L R Xt 30 center channel Xt 15 surround channel 12 inch Rockford self made subwoofer Searching for good atmos speakers for 5.2.2 setup
