Only downsides: It's big, and it doesn't have a "bump" mode for high speed. I knew that when I got it though, and I really don't need it. It's plenty fast even without.. For certain projects. *by B***G on Reviewed in the United States on 4 April 2016* I'll second the reviews that state "not a replacement for air, but nice to be free from hoses".I received the Porter Cable stapler this morning. I put the battery on the charger and went to lunch. Then I put it to work. I had a couple of sections of a 2' tall lattice fence to replace (Chihuahuas don't need much of a fence, and 2' lattice is easier/cheaper to replace If (WHEN) someone drives thru it in the winter). The process of building the fence is pretty simple. Rip a 4'x 8' lattice panel into 2 pieces 2' x 8'. The stable the loose ends where you ripped. Then staple a 1" x 2" frame around the front and back of the lattice. Then staple the resulting panel to 4" x 4" posts already set in the ground.The first thing I noticed was the slight hesitation between pulling the trigger and the staple firing. Not a big deal, but it is noticeable. Actually, for me it might be better. I take advantage of the slight delay to accurately position where I want the staple to go, rather than going down the line and bam, bam ,bam as you would with an air stapler. So, overall the process is a bit slower. If you are working in a shop or garage with a compressor within a short hose reach, go air. But, if you only have a couple staples to shoot, or if you have to drag out a 100'+ of hose around the truck and over the bushes and across the yard or thru the wife's kitchen to get to the work site, this battery stapler is the way to go.I saw a couple reviews that complained about jams. I had this happen a few times. I almost every instance, I can chalk it up to user error (mine). First, a jam with this stapler is not the gnarled mess you sometimes get with an air gun. A "jam" with this stapler is when the staple does not clear out of the gun and into the wood. Almost every time this happened to me, it was because I was trying to hurry. Yes, there is the slight delay after you press the trigger before the staple fires. But, you also need to give it a second or two between firing the previous staple and triggering another staple. I suppose the internals need to reset or something.In my project today, I went thru a couple hundred staples. The staples varied in length between 1/2", 1 1/4", and 1 1/2". Regardless of length, I only had one staple that fired from the gun and was not flush with the board surface (yeah, I was trying to hurry again. I probably pulled the gun away from the wood too quickly).All in all, I like this tool. Like any tool, it has it's plusses and minuses. Just use it for what it is good for (like when you are too lazy to drag out the air hose). Heck, even a metric crescent wrench is not the best tool for every job.Last comments, do not drop this tool. The housing is all plastic and it will not bounce like one with a metal housing. The weight did not bother me. I am 68 years old and had absolutely no issue with the weight. Lastly, with the standard battery, the tool is a bit top heavy. When you are not using it, lay it on it's side.
