Items are made in Sheffield England Burnisher: Has a beautifully turned genuine Rosewood handle, brass ferrule and highly polished high carbon steel rod. The Indian rosewood comes from managed forests.. Overall length is 11 1/2". A burnisher is an indispensable tool used to turn the thin burr on cabinet scrapers that makes them operate to effectively. Clifton Scrapers: cabinet scrapers are an invaluable aid to woodworking in putting a really fine finish on wood. They can also be used for removing traces of paint, varnish or distress marks on wood. The Gooseneck scraper (3” x 5”) is used for awkward curves in moldings and the like, where part of the outside curve of the Gooseneck scraper will be found to fit the desired radius. The Convex/concave scraper (2” x 6”) can obviously be used at either end to fit hollows and rounds. It may also be used as a flat scraper along its parallel edge. The points at the concave end are ideal for scraping in narrow grooves. The Rectangular scraper (2 1/2” x 5”) is the standard item for flat surfaces, though (as will the Convex/concave) it corners may also be used as scraping points. The 2 ½” x 5” is the standard size. The burr tool works great. I simply bought a separate flat rasp metal file in order to put an edge on the scrapers. They took an edge easily. There are a lot of videos on youtube showing how to file down the edge and then use the burring tool to turn the burr and create the edge you need in order to scrape your work pieces.These scrapers are basically as big as the palm of your hand. And of course, if you're buying card scrapers new, you need to (or probably already do) know that you'll need to spend a lot of time with them in order to work them up into scraping shape. I think this is a nice set if what you really want is a burnisher (which actually seems to be of quite good quality) and don't mind some decent card scrapers thrown in. But, if you just want card scrapers, you can also use the back of a chisel, or the length of a really good quality screwdriver to burnish them. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Great book, and in it I found a few ... *by D***L on Reviewed in the United States on February 16, 2018* I am a beginning woodworker and have recently purchased Nick Offerman's book called "Good Clean Fun". Great book, and in it I found a few paragraphs about cabinet scrapers. Nick says to get yourself a good set of cabinet scrapers and learn how to use them and it will change your life. Well, I had never used a cabinet scraper and didn't even know what they were for....but I took Nick's advice and bought this set. I watched a couple You-Tube videos on how they work, how to use them, and how to sharpen them and found out that Nick was spot on. I now use them for scraping dried glue, scraping factory varnish off wooden handles so I can oil them instead, scraping imperfections from panels or frames, and the list goes on. This set seems to be high quality steel and very sharp out of the box, and the sharpener is included.
