Time to replace the handle. The handle finish did eventually fail on the original -- but after maybe 10+ years? Mechanically it was solid. I attached a before and after photo of my work. Aesthetically I like the design. Functionally it opens and closes smoothly. Decent, no frills packaging, and it feels as sturdy as my original.
