The metal in SWA is nothing like steel cable (for rigging etc) that is much stronger and these will not cut steel wire rope. SWA is fine! **Q: Can this cut 12mm steel cable please?** A: Hello, no, you can only cut copper and aluminum cables **Q: can this cut padlocks?** A: I don't know for sure. Cable is a comparitivly soft maluable metal whilst padlock metal is hardened specifically to prevent easy cutting. It might manage a small padlock but certainly not one of any quality or substance. You need bolt cutters for that, or an angle grinder or hacksaw. **Q: Will it cut through this electrical cable in our garden which is about 15mm in diameter?** A: I use this cutter on 120mm copper cable on panel wiring, and 6mm CY 4core cable.
