Just over the tire. So, the bean is not blocked by the tire or cables. Plus, the ground surface near the tire is illuminated.This is a much better alternative to handle bar headlight mounting. It puts your light pattern where you need it - on the riding surface.Only downside is shipping time. It comes by slow boat directly form China. Expect several weeks for delivery. IMHO, the mount gives my bike a very clean look, and helps put light where I need it. With proper aiming, I no longer worry about seeing the road at night, or being visible in the daytime.
