## Description

The New York Times bestseller from the founder of Oh She Glows "Angela Liddon knows that great cooks depend on fresh ingredients. You'll crave every recipe in this awesome cookbook!" —Isa Chandra Moskowitz, author of Isa Does It "So many things I want to make! This is a book you'll want on the shelf." —Sara Forte, author of The Sprouted Kitchen A self-trained chef and food photographer, Angela Liddon has spent years perfecting the art of plant-based cooking, creating inventive and delicious recipes that have brought her devoted fans from all over the world. After struggling with an eating disorder for a decade, Angela vowed to change her diet — and her life — once and for all. She traded the low-calorie, processed food she'd been living on for whole, nutrient-packed vegetables, fruits, nuts, whole grains, and more. The result? Her energy soared, she healed her relationship with food, and she got her glow back, both inside and out. Eager to share her realization that the food we put into our bodies has a huge impact on how we look and feel each day, Angela started a blog, ohsheglows.com, which is now an Internet sensation and one of the most popular vegan recipe blogs on the web. This is Angela's long-awaited debut cookbook, with a trasure trove of more than 100 moutherwatering, wholesome recipes — from revamped classics that even meat-eaters will love, to fresh and inventive dishes — all packed with flavor. The Oh She Glows Cookbook also includes many allergy-friendly recipes — with more than 90 gluten-free recipes — and many recipes free of soy, nuts, sugar, and grains, too! Whether you are a vegan, "vegan-curious," or you simply want to eat delicious food that just happens to be healthy, too, this cookbook is a must-have for anyone who longs to eat well, feel great, and simply glow!

Review: The best vegan cookbook EVER - My husband and I transitioned our family to a plant-based diet about 2 years ago after viewing the Forks Over Knives documentary. I went crazy buying vegan cookbooks, and while I have made good recipes from all of them, the Oh She Glows Cookbook has blown them all away. Here's why I give it 5 stars: -Great basic info for newbies to vegan cooking, but also has unique combinations of flavors in recipes for those of us who have cooked plant-based foods for years. -Very minimal recipes with tofu, tempeh, seitan- which vegan cookbooks are usually FULL of (Veganomicon...this means you!) -I've made about 20 recipes in the book- and ALL of them were "definitely-make-again" recipes -The food photography is beautiful. Seriously...I want to tear the pages out and frame them and put them up in my kitchen! -I will without hesitation give this book as a gift to carnivorous friends- the food is just that delicious. Comments on specific recipes: -Caesar salad- I've needed a vegan replacement for caesar salad dressing for YEARS. My kids LOVED this dressing. No complaints for the "real" stuff. -Tex Mex casserole- DELICIOUS. (Someone posted on their desertcart review that it was inedible and they had to throw it out??!! They have to have made it wrong!) Even my kids loved this with a little guac and cashew sour cream. -Lentil and cauliflower soup- First recipe I made and I thought it was too simple to possibly taste good. I was WRONG. New favorite soup! -Almond butter chocolate chip cookies- yum -Cookie dough bites- the kids LOVED these, of course, but I didn't feel guilty for letting them have them! -Avocado pasta- another kid pleaser. Everyone liked it which is an incredible feat in our house. -Tomato basil pasta- tastes like something from a fancy restaurant. So rich and creamy- you won't believe its vegan. -Sweet potato black bean enchiladas with her 5-minute enchilada sauce- kids didn't like this one but my husband and I did! The blend of flavors was just perfect and the homemade sauce so easy. -the GLO BAR- This is my favorite recipe in the whole book. A homemade granola bar full of plant-based food power and that doesn't fall apart! My kids tore these up and I gave some as gifts to friends for their birthdays. A hit with everyone! My only complaint is that some of the recipes take a while to make... being a working mother of 3 and having cooked plant-based for a while, I realize this is just part of eating healthy. There is generally more prep involved when cooking with only plant-based foods. Maybe now that the author is pregnant her next book could focus on fast healthy recipes: "Oh She Glows in 30 minutes or less". :)
Review: Well worth the wait -- and be sure to check the OSG blog for bonus recipes! - I eagerly pre-ordered this book back in September, and have been patiently waiting for it to come out. Since I moved to a vegan diet over a year ago, Angela Liddon and Chocolate Covered Katie (who is already writing a cookbook) have been my favorite vegan food blogs. The OSG cookbook doesn't disappoint, and is absolutely wonderful! If you check the OSG blog, you can also enter your receipt number for this book and have bonus recipes emailed to you. I definitely recommend doing so since the bonus recipes I've made -- esp. the peanut butter black bean brownies and choco-avocado mousse -- have been delicious! The OSG cookbook has ten chapters: *Breakfast *Smoothies/Juices/Tea *Appetizers *Soup *Salads *Entrees *Sides *Power Snacks *Desserts *Homemade Staples Each of those chapters contains about ten recipes, but the Entrees and Homemade Staples chapters have a few more. At the top of each recipe, you'll also find a "story" or tips about the recipe, and each one also contains substitutions. You'll also find prep time and total cooking time estimates, which I always find helpful when I'm planning to make something. For those who have allergy concerns, each recipe also indicates if it's gluten-free, soy-free, nut-free, or oil-free. Since I know that gluten is a concern for many folks, I wanted to mention that about 80 recipes are gluten-free. One of the things that I love about Angela's recipes is that they use easy-to-find ingredients, and the same is true here. Once you have your pantry staples stocked, you'll be set to go with the foundations of most of the recipes. Another place where Angela excels is in giving detailed instructions, and the same is true here. Each step is broken down carefully, so that novice cooks can easily make the ingredients. The same gorgeous photos that I've come to expect on the blog are also present here. This is a gorgeous book that I know I will be getting a lot of use from! Bon appetit! UPDATE ON 3-17-14: I've now made about ten of the recipes, and have loved every one! The Ultimate Nutty Granola was absolutely incredible and super easy to make, and the chocolate Frozen Pizza (which uses brown rice krispy cereal coated in cocoa as a crust) was one that even my husband (who doesn't usually like the raw or vegan desserts I make) loved. The Broccoli & Cashew Cheese-Quinoa Burritos were also delicious, and I've been using the leftover quinoa mix on a bed of greens for a light lunch. I've also enjoyed the Raw Buckwheat Breakfast Porridge several mornings this past week, and have added in the homemade granola and some fresh berries on top. Delicious and healthy! This has already become one of my favorite cookbooks! Everything is fast and easy to make, which is important to me since I don't like complicated recipes on work nights.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ BEST Cookbook, EVER! Vegan or not...
*by M***O on April 4, 2014*

As I write this review the Soul-Soothing African Peanut Stew simmers on the stove... and oh my it smells heavenly... I've yet to taste this one... but almost everything else I've made so far as been fantastic... i'm thinking the stew will be no different. **Update: the stew was no different...tasted even more heavenly than it smelled :) This book has been my constant companion since I received it two weeks ago. First of all it is a gorgeous cookbook. There are wonderful full color photographs for every recipe. With each recipe there are helpful tips and options to make the recipes gluten, soy, & nut free. In addition to being vegan I try to avoid gluten and soy. I can make almost everything in this cookbook. Here's the rundown of what I've made so far and the results: Apple Pie Oatmeal p. 49: Delicious and easy. It says it serves one so I doubled the recipe for my husband and I and we had two VERY generous bowls... wondering if I could have gotten away with just the one serving for both. Perfected Chickpea Salad Sandwich p. 105: Better than any chicken salad I've ever had. I made one batch, ate it, then immediately made other batch. I did not make sandwiches... rather wrapped the salad in cabbage leaves. This one is a keeper! On the Mend Spiced Red Lentil-Kale Soup p. 131: This is a very hearty and satisfying soup. I made this for my allergy-suffering hubby and he loved it. Creamy Vegetable Curry p. 183: OMG. SO GOOD. I've never used cashew cream before, but it will now be a staple in my kitchen. This was as good as if not better than any curry I've had. I topped with tamari and roasted salted cashews to serve. Present Glo Bar p. 217: I can see why she was able to sell these things online. They are fabulous. I'm so grateful she has shared the recipe. They are terribly easy to make and quite adaptable. I made some changes based on what I had available and they still turned out great. I will make these often. Super Power Chia Bread p. 229: This was the only recipe that didn't knock my socks off. That being said... with a smear of coconut oil and/or sunbutter as she suggests it grew on me. I was very happy about how nutritious the bread is. I may make it again and play with the spices. Whipped Coconut Cream p. 280: I've made this previously from her blog..but have revisited it with this cookbook. YUM. Buy the book and make this. period. I'm so happy I purchased this book! I think you will be too. **Another update: Some reviewers have indicated it's difficult to keep this book open. Unfortunately this is true. This cookbook holder works well with this book: Euro Cookbook Holder (Satin Nickel) (6"H x 8"W x 5.5"D) It reclines the book slightly which helps to keep it open.
