Anything that reduces the amount of time in the kitchen that can also accomplish the first two goals (ie, a slow cooker) is a big plus. I first saw this book at a supermarket, and was impressed with the mouthwatering photos and recipes, so I ordered it from Amazon. I probably should have inspected it more closely before purchasing. The recipes are clear and concise, with handy extra tips; however, many of them contain an additional prep step (I'm a toss it all in the slow cooker and let it do its thing kind of gal) which isn't necessarily a deal breaker. . .but I have thus far been disappointed with the foods I've created. 1) they look nothing like the photos (I know, I know, the finished product rarely looks exactly like the ones in the pictures. . .but they usually resemble them at least a little bit!) and 2) when prepared exactly as stated, I'm finding them to be not terribly flavorful. I do like this book's basic layout and easy directions, and can tweak the recipes enough to make them yummy, but still. This cookbook is fantastic! It has normal everyday ingredients (the occasional odd ball) and my kids even love the recipes.
