My 6 & 7 year old can both help significantly to complete the recipes. So many kids cookbooks either just don’t appeal to them or are too complicated. My son, 6, enjoys reading the pony comments on each recipe and is super proud of himself. My daughter, 7, likes the ponies and is working on reading the recipes. It’s not something we will use everyday but at least every other week on average. The cookie bars are actually delicious even if they are super sweet. They taste very similar to the soft iced sugar cookies from your local grocery store. You know, the ones you see at pot lucks and kids parties.I like that the recipes have a rating system that allows you to gauge the difficulty level 1-3 cupcakes. 1 for easy & 3 for more advanced. I also purchased a science activity cookbook at the same time. It’s not very practical for small kids but I think your more adventurous 8-12 year olds would probably love it. The my little pony cookbook is something we will continue to use long after my daughter outgrows my little pony. It isn’t perfect, I do not like that some recipes call for a cake mix while others have you make the cake. However, the overall effect is simplicity and they have achieved it deliciously. It is kid approved and sugar fiend (me) approved. My husband does not like super sweet things but that hasn’t stopped him from enjoying the recipes.Pancake recipe is really good!Chaos Cookie recipe beats ghirardelli recipe and ingredients with store brand ingredients.
