## Description

Product description Pool Patrol PA-30 Pool Alarm The POOL PATROL Alarm is intended to be an additional layer of security to protect your loved ones. The POOL PATROL Alarm is not intended as a life saving device and is not intended to replace any other safety considerations such as: adult supervision, lifeguards, fences, gates, pool covers, locks, etc. The POOL PATROL Alarm may not detect gradual entry into the pool. This model has a transmitter and receiver. It is intended to alert you at the pool of any intrusion and will transmit to a receiver located nearby. The PA-30 is ASTM F-2208-08(2019) compliant. PA-30 contents Floating Alarm (Transmitter) Receiver with Power Supply String Kit (String with two black plastic hooks IMPORTANT Turning off the alarm in your pool will not deactivate the receiver alarm inside your house. Turning off the receiver inside your house will not turn off the alarm in your pool. Sensitivity Adustment Turning the black flotation base clockwise or counterclockwise raises or lowers the sensing ring with respect to the water. stops. Do not force it. This is the most sensitive position and the position that was used to pass ASTM testing. Moving the float from this position will no longer meet ASTM requirements The closer the sensing ring is to the water, the more sensitive the alarm. Turn the black flotation base gently clockwise until it. Sensitivity Marks The “Sensitivity Marks” can be used as a general indicator for the sensitivity position. Should the sensitivity need to be adjusted start making adjustments by turning the float only a ¼ turn at a time. Test the alarm after each adjustment. We do not recommend turning the float out more than three full turns. TROUBLESHOOTING Pool alarm will not work. Low or missing battery. Replace battery with a new 9V alkaline . Pool alarm makes a chirp sound occasionally. The battery voltage may be low. Replace battery with a new 9V alkaline. Pool alarm was working and now it is not. Oxidation can build up on the sensing post. Lightly clean with steel wool . Pool alarm gives false alarms. Check that the alarm is not near the filter, pump or jets. Be sure the filter inlet is pointed downward. Water can be heard inside pool alarm . Remove battery and return the pool alarm and receiver to Posthaste Electronics for service. The LED on the receiver does not light. Be sure wall transformer is plugged into a 110VAC outlet and the power jack is plugged into the receiver. Check that the ON/OFF switch is ON. Receiver is turned on but does not work when the pool alarm is triggered . Receiver may be too far from the alarm. Relocate. Receiver may be in a building with metal siding or with foil insulation. Relocate near a window. Alarm sounds for no apparent reason. A neighbor may have the same alarm. Place the receiver in ID mode and train the transmitter to the receiver. Alarm Placement for pools 20x40 ft or smaller One pool alarm can be used for all pool types. This includes aboveground, in-ground, inflatable and soft side pools. Alarm Placement for pools larger then 20x40 ft It is recommended that more than one alarm should be used in pools larger than 20x40 ft. RECEIVER Your receiver works with the pool alarm allowing you to monitor your pool from within your house. When the floating alarm is activated it sends a signal to activate the receiver. Transmission Modes The receiver has two modes of operation: Serial Number mode (SN mode) and ID mode. When the receiver is in SN mode it will accept the transmission of any Pool Patrol transmitter (this is the default setting). The serial number is common to all transmitters. When the receiver is in ID mode it will accept the serial number plus the ID number of the transmission. The ID number is unique to each transmitter. RECEIVER PLACEMENT It is best to place the receiver next to a window or wood door adjacent to the pool with-in 200 feet from the transmitter. Do not place the receiver near steel walls, cabinets, on or alongside an electrical appliance, such as a computer, or on a metal surface as this may affect signal reception. The pool alarm will not transmit its signal through the ground.

Review: Best Blessing I Ever Purchased - Works GREAT - Low Ratings Don't READ to Adjust Sensitivity - I bought this but almost did not buy it because of a FEW reviews that it went off easy. I am VERY glad I went ahead and bought it as well as took the TIME to read the SIMPLE manual and adjust the sensitivity. This is a serious subject and not just a blender we are buying. I have a golden retriever puppy that loves to fall in so I can "save" him and our home is built all around a lovely pool. If he falls in the pool it WILL go off inside the home as well as the unit will go off. You have to turn it upside down to quiet it. And go in the house and turn the other alarm off. But in general it won't go off if your pool motor turns on or a gentle breeze goes by-unless maybe it is right near a vent. Serious wind, it may, because it works by the lip being tilted and touching water. Gently place it in the pool because I plopped it in and did not know water touching the rim will keep it in alert mode. I called the company and the person who answered was VERY sweet and already willing to take a return on it---I felt bad and just said I could not get it to stop sounding. She asked if water was on the blue rim, and I said yes. She said dry that off and gently place it back in. She even insisted her company will mention that in the next manual. So, the manufacturer does everything to make this work for us. My retriever is 30 pounds so I practiced tossing a 30 pound object [basically a 3 gallon object] in the pool from any angle, and yes, it created enough of a wave to set it off. So, this is second best to complete supervision. It does have to be tied fairly center in the pool and on each side...I bought two bricks that match the pool pavers to do that. It looks fine and chances are if he falls he will touch the thin ties anyway. Which is what I hope happens if he ever falls in, to really set the alarm off. Pool help I tell to just leave it on the side when they are done cleaning and I will reset it. But I do not cringe anymore if he left my sight for a minute and he is no answering to his name. I can rule the pool out, which is splendid.
Review: A must have for backyard pools - With small children in the house and a backyard pool, I knew we needed a pool alarm for safety. This seemed to be the highest rated and I liked that it would work with our frame pool also. It was easy to set up and test for sensitivity and works exactly as described. One thing we noticed however is if the pump is running and disturbing the surface of the water, or if there is much of a breeze blowing to cause rippling in the water, the alarm will go off a lot. We have found that during windy or inclement weather, we have to remove the alarm as it will continuously trigger false alarms. We also noticed that when our pool filter is freshly cleaned, the filter outlet causes enough rippling to set off the alarm which is kind of annoying. Aside from that, it's very well designed and reliable for going off if the water is disturbed at all. I think there's a bit of a learning curve and some tweaking that needs to be done with the sensitivity in order to get the best results but I love that it has the remote sensor for inside the house and that you are able to adjust the sensitivity. Everyone with a backyard pool, even a frame set or other soft sided pool, should have a pool alarm to protect those around the pool and any unexpected visitors. This is a great alarm, the price is reasonable, and it works as described. We are very happy with our purchase.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Will it work if a small, 8-pound dog falls in?**
A: I believe it will work. Our cats, 10# and 11# both fell in and it went off. Also, my husband forgot it was in and just dangled his feet and it went off. We have been really pleased with it.

**Q: Can you attach it to the handrail of the pool?**
A: Returned because I would not trust it. Sensor never went off even making waves in pool.

**Q: does it have to be tethered ,or can it float free**
A: it comes with a long tether that can be easily shortened without cutting it, but you could let it float around without it. If it is free floating be sure it is alarming properly. Its alarm sensitivity is also very adjustable. Note: rain will also likely set it off.

**Q: How does it connect to the alarm in the house?**
A: It connects through wifi to another transmitter you charge in house. It's really loud regardless. You won't miss the alarm.

### ⭐ Craptacular....
*by C***N on July 1, 2025*

If I could give this a lower rating I absolutely would. The state of California requires childcare providers to have something like this or similar. This product was crap. The settings are all over the place and dont match what the instructions state. It only qualifies for state reg at its most sinsative. Which is so sinsative, if you sneeze near the pool it will set it off. Not to mention we only had ours a couple months before we had to replace it with an even more expensive model BECAUSE IT GOT WATER LOGGED....go figure...floating device died due to self drowning! So lame! Spend the extra money for the better product. You end up having to anyways, so save yourself the time.
