It keeps the smell out and I don’t have to touch anything nasty. The garbage bags that go with this are set up do you tie a knot in the bottom to hold items in. Then when full you stake the excess garbage bag and cut it with the cutter on the side. Then you tie a knot in the top.The whole time it’s keeping a majority of the smell away. It’s not too large that it takes up a lot of your bathroom either. There is a foot pedal that’s nice but it’s too bad you couldn’t push something on top to open it. Then you put the dirty wipes and or diaper inside. Again, it’s really easy to use and is with the amount you spend.
