It gives just enough pull to allow those tense neck and should muscles to be extended just a bit and then state to relax. Once muscles relax you may have to adjust your position a bit to accommodate for the relaxed tension. Your head is not touching the floor but the distance from the floor does not need to much. Just enough to allow you head to be non-weight bearing. It is great, would recommend it and would buy again.
