Does the model 172 also but for $40 less (internal ps)?** A: The PoE-172 is pre-802.3bt compliant with integrated power supply that works with most 60W PDs. The POE-171A-60 is IEEE 802.3bt compliant with an included external power supply. **Q: can you force upoe because device on other end is passive and wont auto detect** A: You will not be able to force UPOE output since this injector is IEEE802.3bt compliant. It will need a IEEE 802.3xx compliant remote device to complete the POE negotiation in order to turn on POE power. What you are looking for is a passive POE Injector which does need the negotiation and is always in power on state. **Q: will it work with starlink satellite dish?** A: No. A Starlink POE would require at minimum, a Type 4 (all 4-pair with power) 802.3bt POE, and even then Starlink polarity doesn't match protocol. Starlink is using 1,2,3,6 for positive, and 4,5,7,8 for negative, which is proprietary. It's like they cross Mode A and Mode B positives and negatives together, which doesn't go along with spec for 802.3bt, also Starlink's wattage is higher than even the 802.3bt Type 4 spec of 90w... The best injector I've seen to work with Starlink (the one I bought too) is the MTC 800-GigE-POE, since it has jumpers you can select the polarity correct (left set jumpers to left-side, right set jumpers to right-side), but you have to bring your own 48v power supply for it, it is only an injector. There is a Reddit post on how to use the MTC injector on a Starlink rectangle dish. **Q: The descriptions says it's a multi gig ethernet port but the title and picture does not. Can this support 2.5g and 5g speeds?** A: POE-171A-60 with HW Ver3 will support multi-gig port speed. We will update if Amazon is using our description. Some times other Planet reseller's entry is used. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Successfully powers UniFi USW Flex *by S***S on July 25, 2020* My application needed to use a single Cat6 with PoE to a PoE powered switch that in turn would provide PoE power to additional downstream devices. As shown in the pictures, the Planet-POE-171A-60 is the only injector that provided the full power budget to the UniFi USW Flex.- The UniFi POE-54V-80W only provides a max of 8 Watts.- The UniFi Switch 8 POE-150W provides a max of 20 Watts.- This Planet PoE injector provides 46 Watts which is the maximum allowed by the UniFi USW Flex. When selecting a PoE injector, make sure it is spec'd as 802.3 bt when using it with the UniFi USW Flex.
