Yes, it reeked to high heaven when I first opened it up, but after a day or two I longer notice any smell unless I stick my nose right up to it. YMMV. I like bright colors; they help me locate things I misplace (ADHD here lol). This thing is colorful for sure. My 17" Dell Precision M4800 fits easily into it, and the extra side pocket is helpful for mouse, power supply or a folder of documents. This sleeve is made of approx. 1/8" thick neoprene, so it's kind of like a cushiony sleeve so not the same level of protection as a dedicated luggage-type laptop bag. But with that, it's much less bulky and simpler to deal with. Add a little bubble wrap inside if you want. No zipper troubles yet.
