The plastic socket are too bulky. The plastic is thicker than the space between the mounting ball and the trunk lid and must be wedged on. Additionally the spring clip consistently walks itself off of the left side and that strut keeps detaching itself while I close the trunk. The right side is strong enough to keep the trunk up when I open it again. However I am worried that the strut slipping off will damage my car.When I get time I will attach photos. Really disappointed and know I will have buy replacements again soon. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Affordable and effective! *by T***E on Reviewed in the United States on June 20, 2018* I've use ARANA struts on several vehicles. They are affordable and easy to install and I've yet to have one fail. These particular ones were for my BMW Coupe. I purchased them in lieu of OEM because I've had good luck in the past. While these do the job and I'm sure will past for many years, they do not function as smoothly as OEM. It actually slams my trunk shut. ### ⭐ Avoid these – they failed after 48 hours and have damaged my vehicle. *by B***P on Reviewed in the United States on January 1, 2019* I installed these (on my E46 330i) following the instructions closely. One of them seems to be doing ok (though I'm not impressed with its lifting performance – I have to still use a lot of my own strength to lift the trunk/boot lid), but the other one wouldn't stay attached. The clip on the top connector would lift off a little bit every time the trunk/boot lid was opened, and then eventually (I would estimate 5-10 trunk open/closes over the past 48 hours) it popped off and the whole thing disconnected. In the meantime, the clip was scratching the metal of the inner of the trunk lid (as shown in photo attached).
