I used big rubber bands to hold them in place and although squirrels are totally capable of removing if they tried, it was thankfully enough to deter them!Later I used this with little wood stakes to create a tiny "fence" around my spiderwort plants after rabbits started eating them---and again, worked like a charm! I used some rocks to stretch this up and around some dwarf iris that were starting to keep anything from digging them up, and it was great there too. Bc you can pull it taut in either direction, this one box can cover countless needs. You can easily water through it and the plants get needed sun, and at a distance you can't really see it so it isn't a distraction in your garden.
