It's very tall so it can easily fit over a cake that has two thick layers. I've put it in the dishwasher and hand washed it. I can see a little bit of scratching on the inside from being washed, but it isn't obvious and doesn't bother me. It's light weight and unbreakable, so no more nervously lifting a heavy glass cake cover. It also will match practically any cake stand that you could use. It's so convenient for a cake or desserts that you want to have out and displayed, but still want it covered. I've also used it for when we have company and have covered snacks, so easy to pop on and off, much better than dealing with removing and replacing saran wrap!
