## Description

★ Celtic Mythology ★ The gifted W.B. Yeats wrote of his own people “...even a newspaperman, if you entice him into a cemetery at midnight, will believe in phantoms, for everyone is a visionary if you scratch him deep enough. But the Celt, unlike any other, is a visionary without scratching.” This introduction to Celtic Mythology will serve the novice well – for it is a complicated history with the earliest written records destroyed by the marauding Vikings. Inside you will read about... ✓ The Arrival of the Tuatha dé Danann ✓ Hibernia ✓ The Main Gods of the Celtic Pantheon ✓ Celtic Life and Rituals ✓ Sources of Celtic Mythology ✓ The Effect of Christianity and Beliefs and Superstitions The oral tradition harks back to 4000BCE and is a compilation of myths and cultures of many different peoples including the Indo-Iranians, Slavs, Greeks, Germans, Austrians and finally, the Gauls, who washed up on the shores of the Emerald Isle. Whatever aspect of this rich, mystical and lavishly embellished heritage you would like to investigate further you will find the author has supplied a marker to guide you on your way.

Review: Descriptive and Concise Within Its Limitations - "Celtic Mythology" is a vivid and descriptive general guide to understand Celtic Mythology and the historical dating centered on its written accounts. It appears that most historical accounts were written by the Christian monks and Christian erudites in fear that Roman invasion of Britain would result in the disappearance or gross perversion of Celtic mythology and customs. It is no secret that many, if not all, Celtic, Indo-Iranian and Indo-European female goddesses were robbed of their ancient divine arraignment of splendour, valour, strength, beauty, knowledge and sexual dominance to be "romanized" and "christianized", redressed as Saints with garments of 'chastity', 'meekness', 'gentleness', and 'dutifulness' or even worse, were demonized as 'mentally unstable', such as Maeve. The only overtly obvious and readily apparent flaw in this Celtic Mythology "Hourly History" book, is that the writer failed to explain that the historical accounts preserved by Gaius Julius Caesar were written in favor of the Roman Republic, depicting the ancient Britain natives and their educated teachers and Druids as 'barbarous', 'simple' and 'ritually practicing human sacrifice'. One must remember that Gaius coveted this land, Britain, and this simplistic and brutal account of its inhabitants was to his favor ALONE. We have none of the surviving actual accounts of their natives, and I advise the reader of this brief "Hourly History" account "Celtic Mythology", to weigh justly the ancient sources of information as well as the intent and purpose in which Gaius intended them to serve. In so doing, shatter these paradigms constructed in heavy iron with tools of tyranny, greed, supremacy, injustice and hate, which are kept withstanding and noncorroding since the Roman invasion of Britain by their damned. In closing, this kindle book is lively, descriptive and thoroughly well written, taking into account the limited sources of information, which are mainstream and general historical Roman accounts. The truth is deeper, however, and often it is not readily and easily available to the general public outside of thorough and extensive investigative scholarly research. My only suggestion is including the interpretation of a few modern Celtic scholars pertaining their own researched history and mythology, as opposed to just Roman literature sources, whether ancient or modern. Photographs for the Review of "Celtic Mythology: A Concise Guide to the Gods, Sagas and Beliefs", from left to right: Left: Photograph of a print of the lands of the "Mabinogion" taken at 'The Green Man' store during a public event. Right: Attired in honor of the pre-Christian goddess Brigit, as a visitor in a teacher-student Celtic meet-up during the month of August (August 26, 2017).

I love learning about Mythology and this book was informative, short, and to the point. I will be reading many more of these in the future.
