Review: A Quality & Easy to Use Digital Audio Recorder - This was a surprise to me... a very nice quality device, which works well, and as advertised, for about $20. The sound is adequate and understandable with the small speaker, but when you transfer the files to your computer, you can hear that they are of a very good quality. I tried both the 512kbps it is set to out of the box, and the highest 1536kbps. There does seem to be a quality improvement... and with this 16GB version, that is supposed to hold 24 hours of audio. I also tested renaming the audio files while connected to the computer, and it does allow this. Your rename shows up on the recorder's screen, as you can see in one of my pictures. This is a VERY handy feature, if you are out in the field and need to find a file. But the best thing about this is the ease of use: You flip on the slide switch, then press "record", and you are good to go. Then when you finish, you press "SAVE". The list of all your files appears and you can quickly scroll them, and play which ever you want with another press of "PLAY/PAUSE". It may sound silly to point this out, but I've used a couple of more expensive, name brand units, and I often find myself needing a refresher course in recording, saving, and playing... they make you go through so many other steps for those very simple tasks.
