Yale YCUL2/13/230/1 Standard Security Defendor Combination Bike Lock, Black

This bike lock is excellent. Not only does it have a solid secure rating (silver albeit not gold) it is fairly lightweight and actually operable with one hand! The one thing I wasn’t thinking about was the way it attaches to the bike. The system that Yale has is excellent. A simple twist and you can pop it on a simple twist and you can pop it off. I used to be the person who would be doing up their bike and somebody else will come along and do their bike and be gone and I’m still there but now I’m the one who’s fast it’s a great system. I just hope I never have to have any of it tested by a thief.

Very impressed with the Yale quality, size and weight at this price. A quality secure lock at a cheap price.

It's difficult to rate a lock until there is a theft attempt.Here is a quick review:Pros:- Cheap- Thick chain links- Compact shackle- Supplied with numerous keysCons:- Heavy (obviously considering the length)- Chain fabric cover is secured by hooks and loop bands. These are not very strong and got torn after a few weeks of use- Shackle cylinder needs regular lubrication for smooth operation- Chain links are a bit tight for the shackle to go through easilyOverall I'm happy with the product and I think it can be a great thief deterrent

Fantastic lock for the price. The rubber coating is a godsend and really stops your bike from getting scratched up. Build quality is fantastic, gold secure rating. It is a kilo and a bit but when mounted on the bike I can't really tell any difference when I ride it.Please note the little plastic thing on the U bend of the lock that is used to attach to the mount on the bike frame, this is not in the correct position when you purchase it, there's a little screw for a hex key so you can slide it up and down the bend into the position you need it in, but you need a really small hex key, almost precision size, which you're unlikely to have in lying around in your house. It is quite smaller than the ones you use for furniture, I wish I could tell you the exact size.I'm really struggling to find faults, but if I absolutely had to, the battery compartment on the little lamp on the key is a touch flimsy. I think that's about it.

Works great just the job

This lock was initially brilliant, very sturdy and robust looking. I left my bike outside with the lock on it and was fine until 1 month in. I went to lock the bike but then could not unlock it, lucky It was locked near my house so I went to get the other keys to try them and nothing none of them could turn the lock to get it free it was completely jammed up. I was very frustrated and it took me over 30 minuets to get it free and looked like I was stealing my own bike. This lock is from Yale, a big security manufacturer and cannot even make a decent bike lock. I had to pour water on it to finally lubricated it to get it free. I thought that this was a 1-time thing but the next time the lock refused to come undone to even lock up the bike leaving my bike open to be stollen. I final got it to get undone and when I tired to unlock the bike again the same problem. Took me 1 hour and loads of wd40 but when It came off I could see the rust dripping out which is not good. The key is also completely stuck and will not come undone rendering the lock useless what a waste of money.

Excellent

The bike lock is really very good. Strong, high-quality. Not very heavy. But it's too big for me, its length is 29cm. It does not fit on the frame of the M 17' adult bike. There's just nowhere to attach it.
