Can this hinge be used for a attic down hatch

Hi Don’t think so I’m using them for a dustbin storage unit top lift Can’t see how it would work plus not big enough opening

Are these suitable for outdoor use? Or is there an outdoor version available?

I've fitted them in a big tool chest I built in my garden, so outside but not exposed to the elements - they're still fine after a couple of winters. I got some smaller, cheaper ones for a lighter duty last summer (cold frame lid) and they haven't survived this winter, so I'll be replacing them with more of these.

It helps lift or it just prevents slamming

Doesn't really have an effect on opening but, as long as your lid isn't ridiculously heavy, they'll hold it open until you close it yourself. Come what may, they'll stop it slamming, certainly.

How do the hinges stay in the open position? When I hold them open they then immeditely retract when i let go.

They are pneumatic so they stay in the open position I made a wooden lid that balances against the weight so it stays open when I lift the lift but stays closed when I push down Really good
