Game of Thrones: Season 8

Rushed storyline ruins faultless production
The production and acting were fantastic, which I would give 5 stars for. It is such a pity all the build up from the previous seasons was ruined by time constraints and a much lacking script, often relying on overly long camera shots of the scenery, with very little human interaction and development. I think a drinking game involving taking a shot everytime Jon Snow repeats 'she's my Queen', may make watching this season far more enjoyable - if you could see straight by the end. Emilia Clarke was fantastic as the 'Mad Queen', but Dany's 'turn' deserved much much more. Bran's character needed further exploration, before reaching the 'he should be king' moment. This really needed another season (or two). This last episode in particular is oddly edited. There is no sense of any time passing, so it appears as though Grey Worm has a double and after Drogon flies away, Bran, Sansa etc magically appear, with no sense that an hour has passed, let alone possibly days (weeks maybe considering how much Jon's beard has grown when they show him later). The episode was just a bit of a mess and made frustrating viewing.

Not my favorite season but pretty good.
When I heard about all the disappointment of the final season I really assumed the worst. Although certain aspects of this season are less than perfect I still enjoyed it overall. Yes I agree it feels rushed, some exciting reveals I was looking forward to seemed underwhelming and overshadowed (Ser Jorah and Samwell meeting again with Daenerys for one example).I personally never saw Daenerys as a good pure character. Worthy of the throne yes but very ambitious and consumed by the idea of her destiny. I thought the last season did a good enough job of wrapping most of that up.The Battle of the long night was too dark (I know it's implied but still). I'm no tactician but I wouldn't send my cavalry head first into the unknown. Nor would I place trebuchets outside the battlements in that situation. But fine it's television.Anyway I could go on but these are just some of my thoughts on the final series.Enjoyed it overall but ...

Devastated a whole show with one shot
An absolute disaster.Plot ruined and made impossible to understand, 1 minute Arya is at the opposite side of the world, the next minute is killing the guy that holds the Twins. Disconnected timelines, plot holes and, aside for Tyrion, the characters reduced to tasteless soup. Ok, from average books i didn't espect greatness, but the first 3-4 seasons were very good. Season 8 is just a disaster, and pretty pricey, to be honest, given the quality.A shame for the cast and the crew that i am sure spat blood to provide the best performance they could, but with such poor scripting it was mission impossible.

A very average finale
I feel cheated. This was a great series full of surprise, twists and creative plots and graphics. Very, very little of that was on show in Series 8. There is a fabulous battle for Kings Landing but quite literally nothing else. if the series were a book I'd call it a pot boiler, except that this pot is of course empty and set fair for the midden. What do I learn from this sorry finale - that committing time to watching an HBO series is probably a worthless venture. Grab the Episode for the Battle of Knots Landing and forget the rest. You will miss quite literally nothing.

Pretty Good Finale
I was expecting the worst having seen several poor reviews for the final season. But overall I was pretty pleased. It did not appear rushed, poorly written or jarringly out of character arc to me. Always difficult to close a successful series well and I think they did it pretty satisfyingly. My only minor negative would be that I thought both the Winterfell and Kingslanding battle episodes were stretched out a bit too long.

Silly silly silly
The best thing about this is the "making of" extra film, which is wonderful. However, the point of making a film or a show or whatever is the end product itself. Who was to blame? The writers of TV series so often seem to get bored and lazy, or get carried away with themselves and start to have too much fun. And here it is again. What a betrayal of all the talented and enthusiastic people who worked on this.SPOILER - War, war, war, and then they all sit round like pussycats - oh, yes, you can be queen in the north, and we'll have a teenager as our kind, no problem. And then the chidren went home to tea...No wonder everyone is angry!!!!!

seems a little flat
Winterfell:It is good to be back with these guys after such a long wait but somehow this opener doesn't strike quite the right note. It just doesn't seem sharp enough, dialogue is stilted, everything seems a little flat. Even the dragons, so large now the look more disney than anything else, failed to excite me - perhaps I expected too muchA knight of the Seven Kingdoms. There are some nice moments it this, Bran unexpectedly quoting Jaime from the very first episode was a high point, and Briennes triumph at her acceptance by those she admires most. It between though it still feels very flat. Every one is very grave and sombre, I suppose they are just about to face an unkillable army of the undead, but still, they could at least be a bit snarky to each other
